Great Lakes, Great Women

The Highland Park Historical Society presents ‘Great Lakes, Great Women’ with Erik Wright from the National Museum of the American Sailor on Monday April 30th at 7:00 PM at the Highland Park Library.

“Great Lakes, Great Women” explores the significant contributions of women to Naval Station Great Lakes from its opening in 1911 through the present. This presentation highlights over twenty women who broke legal and civic barriers in the fight for inclusion, equality, and recognition within the United States Navy.

Erik Wright, Education Specialist, National Museum of the American Sailor, Naval History and Heritage Command will present this talk. He is a veteran of United States Army serving in the U.S. Army Tank Corps from 1990 to 1998, served as an armor crewman during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  Prior to Great Lakes, he was a special events director and research historian at the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, NV.
